The University has a variety of policies that aid employees and line managers with family related issues and procedures. The links to the relevant policies are provided below. Within those you will find the necessary information concerning e.g. the law, pay, and benefits. Among many others, the Special Leave policy contains the procedures relating to serious illness or bereavement of a close relative, unforeseen emergencies and fertility treatments.

The relevant forms are mentioned in each policy, but can also be found in the general HR list.

For more information, or indeed clarification, please talk to your line manager, and the administrator/secretary or HR manager of your school or department. In every case, if possible give sufficient notice to all parties involved. This allows yourself and your line manager time enough to find the best solution for you (and your partner).
